The Convent of San Nicola, located on Mount Forcella at an altitude of 485 meters, is accessible from the village of Sambuco in Ravello via a dirt path that leads to the convent, offering a unique panoramic view of the entire Amalfi Coast. The complex consists of a church and the convent itself, both of which underwent necessary restoration in the 1980s. The foundation dates back to the 11th century, and it became the seat of the Augustinians in 1628.
The church has a single nave, with a statue of the saint placed in the niche above the altar. It is an exciting adventure through history and nature, guiding us to the discovery of authentic treasures.
We will start from the main square of Ravello (Piazza Duomo) or from Scala, Borgo Santa Caterina, and continue along unique trails and the narrow streets of the historic center, passing through the ancient city walls. The walk will be immersed in nature and silence, broken only by the sound of the stream we will cross along the way.
Upon reaching the slopes of the Convent, we will admire the surrounding mountains and the trail that leads to the “Alta Via dei Monti Lattari.” We will then continue downhill along mountain steps toward the “Path of Lemons,” a scenic route overlooking the villages of Maiori and Minori.
